Hi, I'm Stuart.

The Physiotherapist and Public Health advocate with a big voice.

Bachelor of Physiotherapy,
Master of Public Health.

THE HEALTH REVOLUTION IS HAPPENING.

AI, machine learning and telemedicine are combining to bring efficiency and affordability back into healthcare. It is time for us to embrace these tools which offer us many benefits for health access and equity. As a passionate public health advocate, I am exploring this potential discussing with those on the edge of these technological frontiers.

Through my Movement First platform, I’m making the first evidence-based offerings that empower the individual to take control of their rehabilitation and not rely on passive, low-value care options.

PhysiotherapY

I rolled my ankle at 15 and my local Physio in North Brisbane told me his job meant almost no desk time and plenty of travel overseas, so I made a manly Michael Jackson-esque falsetto noise and set my mind on Physiotherapy. Two decades later, I’ve travelled the world and gathered experience in International sports, various industries and in some of Australia’s most remote communities.  It’s afforded me a unique perspective on health systems and a passion to improve health for all.

Clinically, I trained with some of the best in Pilates, Acupuncture, Dry Needling and Manual Therapy in order to provide the best care for patients. It’s a toolkit that allows me flexibility and creativity, yet keeps me grounded in knowing that we don’t have all the solutions for everyone.

PUBLIC HEALTH MATTERS

Funny and insightful (I hope). Watch and learn as I take a scalpel to a variety of health topics in need of examination.

HEALTH EQUITY

Allied Health is experiencing a period of incredible demand as an ageing population with more chronic disease and disability seeks our services for treatments that cannot be treated with pills or simple procedures.

For two years I worked in remote and Indigenous health in North-West Queensland and came to appreciate the inequities of our health services first hand, as a clinician and as a Manager. Initially I’d barely had an experience with an Indigenous person in Australia, but I threw myself into the community and gained friendships, knowledge and skills that led me to complete a Masters in Public Health scholarship.

My work is far from done here as I truly believe in pursuing health equity for our remote and Indigenous populations and by drawing attention to the causes of these health disparities.

I pay my respects to all those whose lands I have been welcomed in and acknowledge the contributions they make everyday to improve the health of their communities.

MEDIA

Ever since taking clown duties on the bus to high school, I’ve enjoyed laughing, singing and acting. After being challenged to try my hand at standup comedy, I ended up falling into Sydney’s acting/presenting game and had a ball getting paid to spruik products, hit the boards or screen and make a few projects with friends.

These days I still sing rock/blues for Muddler’s Cocktail and enjoy interviewing people for health podcasts. I’ve been fortunate to do spots also for ABC Radio North-West Queensland, MOB FM Community Radio and hosted the 2021 Outback Allied Health Forum, where I also presented on Advocacy For Change
