I rolled my ankle at 15 and my local physio told me his job meant no desk time and plenty of travel. I made a falsetto noise of pure joy and chose physiotherapy on the spot.
Two decades on, that decision has taken me through the NHS, professional rugby and cricket in Scotland, industry, and private practice — along with a training toolkit spanning Pilates, dry needling and manual therapy, and the clinical honesty to know that no single tool fixes everyone.
Why public health
Two years working in remote and Indigenous health in North-West Queensland showed me health inequity up close — as a clinician and as a manager. It earned me friendships, perspective, and a scholarship-funded Masters in Public Health. That work isn't finished, and neither am I.
I pay my respects to all those whose lands I've been welcomed on, and acknowledge the work they do every day to improve the health of their communities.
